Gree Wins Medals at Nuremberg Inventor’s Fair

Recently, the Nuremberg Inventor’s Fair iENA 2022 unveiled this year’s medal winners. Gree won three gold and two silver medals. Among which, the distributed air supply technology, Xiang Series residential central AC (air conditioning + floor heating) and inverter scroll compressor project for new energy buses won the gold medals; the high speed all direct-driven vertical processing center and intelligent hot fluorine defrosting technology for cold storage won the silver medal.
At this year’s trade fair, Gree is the sole Chinese home appliances enterprise that won gold medals. It’s worth mentioning that Madam Dong Mingzhu, chairperson and president of Gree, also the primary inventor for the distributed air supply technology, received favorable praises from the judges, fully demonstrating the world-leading position and strength of that technology.
As is known to all, the evaluation of the Nuremberg Inventor’s Fair iENA is strict, professional and large-scale, so it enjoys high reputation globally. Gree winning these medals has shown that the technologies and application projects independently developed by Gree are highly recognized and welcomed in the global market.

1.Creative distributed air supply technology Tackle industry difficulties
By focusing on user demands, Gree has always been insisting on independent innovation and improvement in R&D process, and has tackled lots of industry difficulties. The innovative “world-leading” distributed air supply technology has enabled the cold air to come out from the upper air outlet during cooling. The cold air will not blow to people directly, thus realizing cooling from the top down; moreover, the warm air will come out from the bottom air outlet during heating to realize heating from the bottom up.

The distributed air supply technology is a ventilation and heat exchange technology that allows the heat pump to achieve air flow organization (air distribution) in the room. Meanwhile, it is a key step to realize indoor air distribution in thermal environment, and is closely linked to the thermal comfort of users.
The distributed air supply technology independently developed by Gree is an integration of a series of key technologies for air handling, including distributed air supply terminal technology, high-efficiency layout technology of fan and rectification technology of fan. It enables more balanced temperature distribution in the room, more reasonable air supply form for heat pump AC and better air distribution efficiency, and solves the problems of conventional heat pump air conditioners, such as poor air distribution, direct cold draughts, not feeling comfortable and high energy cost.
Until now, Gree has developed three core technologies, including high-efficiency distributed air supply terminal and control method, two-way flow channel parallel fan layout technology and high-efficiency rectification technology of fan, all of which have reached the world-leading level. Thanks to these technologies, the vertical air temperature difference of an air source heat pump is within 0~2℃ during operation, which will significantly improve the quality of life for users in both summer and winter.

Gree “distributed air supply technology” has been applied to Gree Honour, Jewel, King, Value Time and other series of air conditioners, serving many countries and regions, providing users with clean, comfortable, eco-friendly and brand new heating solutions and helping to solve global environmental problems.
Besides, the Xiang Series residential central AC (air conditioning + floor heating), another gold-winning project, is equipped with the air source heat pump intelligent heating technology based on building heat storage. It adopts the AI chip independently developed by Gree to carry out online self-learning for the operation characteristics of heat pumps and building thermal parameters, perform reasonable planning for the operation time and heating capacity of heat pumps by utilizing the heat storage capacity of floor and predicting outdoor working conditions, so as to match the energy supply with demand and achieve the overall optimization of energy efficiency, providing high-efficiency and energy-saving solutions for heating in winter.

2.Brilliant technological achievements in intelligent equipment, new energy, freezing and refrigerating
Gree entered the intelligent equipment field in 2013, and started the diversified development since then. In the recent decade, Gree has been working hard to develop intelligent manufacturing and new energy vehicles. Now it has become a diversified and scientific global industrial manufacturing group covering household consumer goods and industrial equipment.
The inverter scroll compress for new energy buses, which also won the gold medal, is not only the “heart” of a vehicle air conditioner, but also the key to enhance the energy efficiency and heating effect of new energy buses air conditioners. Featured with high efficiency and energy conservation, it adopts the R410A refrigerant with better heating effect, and uses the air supply enthalpy adding technology of high efficiency and high flow capacity. Under the ambient temperature of -20℃, it can perform strong heating without attenuation and achieve 22% increase in cooling capacity and 12% increase in energy efficiency. The unit will keep reliable and efficient operation under the evaporation temperature of -30℃. Air conditioning systems of new energy vehicles adopting this compressor can satisfy the application needs in a wide range of areas and extreme cold conditions, leading the technological upgrade of air conditioning products for new energy buses.
In the intelligent equipment field, the high speed all direct-driven vertical processing center, which was awarded the silver medal, is quite attracting. It is equipped with various automatic communication interfaces, PLC, HMI, the fourth axis to realize automatic processing. Moreover, tiny lubrication is used to cool the system and eliminate the latex pollution; the service life of the cutting tool will be extended twice or three times. The two-channel control, intelligent anti-collision system, and mechanical and electrical protection ensure the safe processing of double principal axes.
At present, this series of numerically-controlled machine tool have served for the leading enterprises of new energy vehicles in China, North America and European countries, and promoted close cooperation with many automobile components manufacturing enterprises in the world.

Another silver medal project, Gree intelligent hot fluorine defrosting unit for cold storage creatively adopts the heat pump technology. With the intelligent defrosting control function, it has the characteristics of precise temperature control, energy saving and high efficiency, as well as defrosting only when needed. Based on the nonlinear adaptive parameter global optimization and defrosting control technology, and combined with the hot fluorine defrosting technology, the unit can save energy by up to 50% when compared with traditional electric heating defrosting method. Along with the continuous development of urbanization in our country, the proportion of perishable food in the food structure of urban residents is high; therefore, storage and transportation cannot do without the cold chain. It is predicted that in the process of urbanizing, the intelligent and energy-saving hot fluorine defrosting technology will show a huge application potential.
